Flight Dynamics System Engineer

JOB LOCATION
The position is based in Rome. The availability to make occasional National and International travels is required. Short-stays at our customers’ premises, based in Italy, may be required only during specific project phases.

TASKS
The Flight Dynamics System Engineer shall work on multiple projects and assignments, leading all the internal technical activities with an high degree of autonomy during all the subsystem lifecycle, from the specification up to the operations phase.
He/She shall support proposal preparation and sales activities, leading, preparing and delivering all the required contributions inherent to the job position.

The applicant shall be able to coordinate or directly execute the following tasks:

  • define the Flight Dynamics S/S specification and review upper level requirement allocation and traceability;
  • define and update the Flight Dynamics S/S architecture (functional, software and physical), internal and external S/S interfaces, and technical performance;
  • prepare the Flight Dynamics S/S development plans, test plans, test procedures;
  • design, implement and maintain the Flight Dynamics S/S software;
  • define the Flight Dynamics S/S hardware specification;
  • execute the Flight Dynamics S/S software installation and configuration on hardware platforms;
  • participate in the Flight Dynamics S/S test campaigns;
  • execute test and validation activities of the Flight Dynamics S/S;
  • provide support to the Flight Dynamics S/S integration in the Ground Segment;
  • prepare the documentation of the Flight Dynamics S/S during all the project phases;
  • participate and prepare the Flight Dynamics S/S milestones, and provide all the relevant contribution to upper level reviews.


QUALIFICATION
The applicant has got a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering or another relevant discipline. The applicant has at least 5 years professional experience, mostly on Mission Control.
The following expertise is considered as mandatory:
  • Extensive knowledge in space flight mechanics
  • Professional experience on Flight Dynamics engineering / operations (no less than 3 years long)
  • Professional experience on Flight Dynamics software development, test procedures preparation, execution and reporting
The following expertise is considered as an distinct advantage:
  • Professional experience with Flight Dynamics software, as FreeFlyer® and Orekit library
The following expertise is considered as an advantage:
  • Professional experience on Mission Analysis, preferably in Earth Observation domain
  • Professional experience on Ground Segment system engineering
  • Professional experience on SAR and Optical Earth Observation missions
  • JAVA programming skills, knowledge of Linux OS
  • Ph.D. on Space Flight Dynamics topics, preferably in Earth Observation domain
Professional experience in project management is desirable but it is a plus.

The applicant shall also possess:
  • Very good analytical skills
  • Very good communications and presentation skills
  • Very good technical writing (generating and delivering) skills
  • High level of written and spoken English
  • High level of written and spoken Italian is desirable

Mission Operations Engineers

We are looking for two Mission Operations Engineers. Working in a large Team close to our site of Avezzano, they will develop, check and maintain operational procedures to ensure Service Delivery. Note: These Engineers will not run any In-Orbit operation of Spacecrafts, neither their orbital control.

Ground Segment System Engineer

TASKS
The Ground Segment System Engineer shall work on multiple projects and assignments, leading all the internal technical activities with an high degree of autonomy during all the subsystem lifecycle, from the specification up to the operations phase.
He/She shall support proposal preparation and sales activities by leading, preparing and delivering all the required contributions inherent to the job position.

The applicant shall be able to coordinate or directly execute the following tasks:

  • Lead development team, in respect to established schedule, costs and performances
  • Perform tradeoff analysis and decide on solutions, techniques and approaches
  • Participate to internal and external meetings and discussions related to relevant issues,
  • Participate to and prepare documentation (presentation, technical notes, etc) for the GS and Subsystems milestones; provide all the relevant contribution to upper level reviews.
  • Prepare and maintain the Ground Segment subsystems development plans
  • Define and lead Ground Segment Subsystems test campaigns and validation activities
  • Define and prepare training sessions to internal personnel on G/S generic or specific issues in accordance with owned and acquired expertise
  • Coordinate and/or directly execute the following tasks:
  • Define and mantain the G/S and Subsystems architecture (functional, software and physical), internal and external G/S and Subsystems interfaces, and technical performance;
  • Define G/S and Subsystems specification and review upper level requirement allocation and traceability;
  • Define the G/S and Subsystems hardware specification;
  • Prepare the documentation of GS and subsystems during all the project phases;
  • Coordinate and support the execution of the following tasks:
  • Perform trade-off analysis on COTS selection
  • Implement, configure and maintain part of the G/S software;
  • Execute the G/S subsystems software installation and configuration on hardware platforms;
  • Define the Ground segment and related subsystems AIV activities including test plans, test procedures
  • Execute AIV activities at G/S and subsystems level
  • Perform integration of G/S subsystems in the Ground Segment;

  • Team coordination experience

  • Involvement in nanosatellite projects for ground segments and/or open source mission control software
  • Knowledge / experience on Flight Dynamics systems and Mission control systems for Earth Observation missions

Activity Description: NEXT wants to employ young graduated people with few job experience in Taranto and Rome offices. They will be part of international projects with the aim of developing complex systems in the Defence Area. Main activities:

  • Software analysis, engineering and development;
  • Software Verification engineering;
  • Provide project’s documentation.
  Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Engineering;
  • Knowledge of Linux Operating System;
  • Knowledge of at least one of the Object Oriented Programming Languages (Java, C++, C#);

Firmware / Software Engineer

Activity Description: NEXT wants to employ young graduated personnel with few job experience in Rome offices. They will be part of projects leading to complex systems development in the Defence Area. Main Activities:

  • Software analysis, engineering and development;
  • Software Verification engineering;
  • Provide project’s documentation.
  Requirements:
  • FPGA architectural design;
  • Implementation and simulation of complex digital circuits in vhdl and/or verilog;
  • Testbench skills for regression test;
  • Knowledge of axi aurora PCI express protocols;
  • Knowledge of Xilinx ISE, Xilinx ultrascale, Vivado, Chipscope tools;
  • Timing clousure analysis;
  • FPGS and external devices interfacing.

Software Engineer Training Internship

NEXT selects candidates that will be trained through IT lessons with the aim of employing additional staff.

The training consists of a classroom-based section with the purpose of introducing the candidates in the company’s context and giving them the key information of the whole software lifecycle. Then there will be a practical training at NEXT offices with the purpose to prepare the participants in getting introduced in an operating team and test the acquired knowledge. At the end of the training, the candidates with positive results will be employed by the company to carry out SW activities in Transportation, Defence and Space Area.

Information technology University Education (Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering) and passion for IT technologies are required.

Knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems, and knowledge of programming languages (C, C++, Java) would be an asset.

Precision, motivation, result orientation, and team work skills complete the profile.

CADM Manager
